It can be difficult to know which will work best for your business. However, a weekly e-mail newsletter is an effective and easy marketing tool for any business owner. Here are a few reasons why you will benefit from publishing a weekly e-mail newsletter of your own.

Sending out an e-mail newsletter is inexpensive. There are no printing or mailing costs associated with contacting prospects via e-mail. You will need to use a newsletter management program to send out your newsletter, but you can look for one within your price range. Newsletter management programs allow subscribers to manage their own subscriptions, so you don’t need to pay anyone for that service. Some even offer templates for you to use so you won’t need to hire a designer either.

You can track your marketing. Many newsletter management programs offer tracking so you can see how many of your subscribers are opening your newsletter. You can also see which links in your newsletter they’re clicking on. This will tell you what it is about your newsletter that interests your readers the most, and you can make the appropriate changes.

You are marketing to people who are interested in what you sell. Your subscribers signed up for your newsletter because they were interested in the information you offer. This can make it easier for you to convert them into buyers.

Your subscribers will become familiar with your products or service. It’s said that people need to hear about your product or service at least seven times before they will think about purchasing it. If you send out a weekly newsletter, that’s a great way to tell them about your product, over and over again. Remember to include helpful information as well, so they won’t feel like you’re sending them a sales pitch every time.

You will become a reliable resource, not just a salesperson. If you regularly publish helpful information in your newsletter, you will become a trusted expert. Your subscribers will think of you as a helpful resource they can go to for advice. This means they will be more likely to purchase from you when they’re ready.

You will build relationships with your subscribers. People buy from people they know, like and trust. When your subscribers hear from you on a regular basis, you will become familiar to them. They will feel like they know you and get to like you. Because you’re consistently providing good information, they will come to trust you. When they’re ready to purchase, everything will be in place for them to buy from you.

An e-mail newsletter is a great marketing tool that any business owner can use. Not only is it simple to manage, it will help you turn more of your prospects into customers.

Internet marketing seminars are created to benefit business owners, both virtual and brick and mortar. Making the choice to attend an internet marketing seminar stands to benefit both the owner and the business. Seminars are created to help direct business owners in the right direction and teach business owners how to effectively market their company and themselves.

My personal favorite internet marketing seminar by far is NAMS (Niche Affiliate Marketing System) which will be held in August this year. I would love to meet you at NAMS so register now and enter the coupon code, NAMS4FF, for $300 off your registration. You need to act quickly. As of this writing there are only 27 seats left.

When attending a seminar, the best piece of advice is to be prepared. In order to take away the most information out of a seminar, it is important to actively participate as well as contribute.

Here are some tips designed to help you succeed at your first internet marketing seminar:

Take notes! Unless you have a photographic memory, chances are you will not remember a lot of the information that was discussed during the seminar. The solution to this is to take notes, and lots of them. What may not seem important during the seminar may turn out to be a vital piece of information or advice that will lead your marketing in the right direction.

If you decide to go to NAMS be sure to take your laptop and cord to plug in. The note taking from this conference is endless…in a very good way!

Ask questions. Many seminars reserve a slot of time for questions and answers. Make the most of this time by asking questions about either information you did not understand or even broaching a new subject that was not discussed during the seminar. Do not worry about appearing unintelligent – after all, the only stupid question is the one not asked.

Discuss the information with your peers at the seminar. Most internet seminars have a chat room where users can talk with each other. By chatting with your peers, you may come upon even more information or advice. Different people also have different insights into marketing; some of your peers may share their insights which may benefit you as well. Most of your peers may also be willing to spread the word about your business on your behalf, especially if they like the person they are talking to!

Befriend the host of the seminar. Internet seminars are hosted by a plethora of different people, each with their own take on business and marketing. By forming an acquaintanceship with the host, they may allow you to contact them in the future with any questions you may have. Most hosts will also do consulting outside of the seminar, this may be useful to you as well.

There are several ways to take away a world of knowledge when attending an internet marketing seminar. By being prepared, taking notes and discussing the information with your peers, you are opening the doors to forming a successful marketing bid. Because most businesses do not survive without an effective marketing plan, be sure to make the most of your internet marketing seminar.

You spend time with it just about every day. But have you looked at it lately? Yes, it can get pretty dirty just like you would if you sat all day long in one spot and had everyone’s dirty hands all over you! Here are some tips for cleaning your laptop or PC.

The first thing to remember is even though your computer screen or monitor resembles a television screen, you don’t clean it the same way. Spraying Windex on your screen will create bigger problems. Computers work hard but they are delicate. Take the soft approach.

Cleaning the Screen

Whether a laptop or a PC, the screen will get dirty. You touch it and dare we say, probably have sneezed on it (deadlines still exist even when you are under the weather). Over time, all of this stuff builds up on your computer and needs to be cleaned off.

To see just how dirty your computer is, turn it off and stare at the blank screen. Before you scream, grab a lint-free cloth. You can buy them at any computer store.

Gently apply even pressure as you wipe dirt and dust off of the screen. Be aware that pressing too hard could damage the components in the screen. This is especially important for the newer flat screen monitors.

If the screen is still not clean, you can apply a little cleaner specifically for computer monitors to the screen. When the hard stuff softens, wipe it away with a lint-free cloth. Commercial cleaners may say that they are safe for computers but using an approved one is best and won’t leave a film on your screen.

Cleaning the Keyboard

The worst looking place on your computer is the keyboard. Over time, dust, lint, dirt, food and other small particles get wedged between keys. Since the keys are so close together, it is nearly impossible to clean between them with a cloth and not pop your keys off.

Instead, use a can of compressed air to clean your keyboard. Start at one end of the row of keys and direct the spray towards the other to move all the dirt out in one direction. Use some of the screen cleaner to wipe skin oils from the keyboard keys. Follow all of this up with a computer brush or computer vacuum to remove the last bits of debris.

Try to perform this maintenance on a monthly basis. It prevents sticky key situations and you scratching on the screen to remove dirt. Not to mention, those nasty germs will no longer linger and make you sick again! Take care of your computer and it will take care of you.

Technology enables you to bill and even respond to people while you’re sleeping, marketing or planning your business or simply enjoying the day. However, in order to earn money around the clock and build your business, it’s important to be connected to your customers around the clock.

Here are seven ways to be more connected with your market:

1. Automate blog posts. Blogging is a great way to connect with your audience on a very personal level. Unlike articles, blog posts can be written in first person and create a connection in which no other medium allows. The great thing about blog technology is that you can write your blog posts in advance and schedule them to be posted each day.

2. Incorporate RSS. RSS technology enables customers and website visitors to subscribe to your online content. You can utilize RSS for your website and blog to notify your audience each time new content is added. It’s a great way to connect to your customers on a regular basis.

3. Automate Twitter posts (but don’t forget to interact too). Twitter is a handy social marketing tool because it can also be set up to post on Facebook. And with one of any number of tools, like Seesmic, you can write your posts in advance and schedule them just like a blog. This give you double the opportunity to market your new content, promotions and business-related news, and also provides you with an ongoing opportunity to connect with your customers around the clock.

4. Consider outsourcing 24/7 customer service if you sell products. Customer service is a valuable tool but if you sell products it’s a must have. It enables your customers to ask questions right away and enhances the possibility that they’ll actually make a purchase. You can outsource this type of customer service or utilize a software solution like Kayako Help Desk Software. Services like Live Chat have improved conversion rates for some businesses by as much as 20%.

5. Autoresponders for inquiries. There’s nothing more frustrating for a customer than to send a question or comment and not know whether your comment has been received. Autoresponders can be set up quite easily to confirm receipt and to let your customer know how soon they’ll be hearing from you. It’s just good business to respond to customers immediately and autoresponders enable you to do this even when you’re away.

6. Autoresponders for purchases and opt-ins. Another great use for autoresponders is to set up thank you messages for purchases and opt-ins. Let your customers know you appreciate them automatically. You can also use this opportunity to up-sell or to provide more value by offering them something like a coupon on their next order. You can set up a series of autoresponders to be emailed weekly to stay in touch with customers too.

7. A consistent flow of valuable information. While e-newsletters have diminished over the past few years as blogs and social networking has taken off, newsletters, report clubs, and a consistent flow of valuable information is still appreciated by your online customers. Consider using regular emails to stay in contact with your customers on a regular basis and provide them with content and promotions they’ll appreciate.

As the internet becomes more and more competitive and customers become more and more demanding, it pays to be available to them 24/7. Use technology to help you get the job done. A bigger, better bottom line will be the reward.

Most of your potential customers will need to hear about your product several times before they will consider making a purchase. Email marketing allows you to stay in contact with potential customers by emailing them helpful information on a regular basis. When they hear from you regularly, over time they will be more likely to buy from you.

Email marketing can also help you turn your current customers into repeat customers. It is always easier to sell to someone who has already purchased from you. Email marketing can help you stay in touch with your current customers and let them know about new products and new information.

Autoresponders play a vital role in an effective email marketing campaign. An autoresponder is a program that allows you to send out emails automatically. It can store several prewritten emails and deliver them to people who sign up for your list in a sequential fashion. An autoresponder is a tool you can use to tell them about your product over and over again.

An autoresponder makes email marketing very simple because new subscribers are added to your list automatically. If they ever wish to unsubscribe, they can do that by themselves. The only work you have to do is fill your autoresponder with great content and schedule it for delivery. The autoresponder takes care of everything else.

One way autoresponders are used in email marketing is by following up with website visitors who may not be ready to buy from you right now. An autoresponder gives you a way to automatically follow up with them. You can offer a free report on a topic that’s of interest to your visitors, and ask for their email address in exchange.

Once they’ve signed up for your report, they are automatically added to your autoresponder, which can give them a series of emails giving them even more information, and telling them about how your product or service can help them.

Autoresponders are commonly used to deliver ecourses. An ecourse is a very effective way to draw people to your website and give them an opportunity to learn more about what you sell. Break your course down into short lessons that can be emailed and then set them up in your autoresponder. You may choose to send out a new lesson each day or every few days. During the course, you can tell your students about your product and how it can help them reach their goals.

Autoresponders are also very helpful in providing customer support. After someone makes a purchase from your website, you can send them follow-up messages with answers to frequently asked questions, or more information about how to use your product or service. You can also use autoresponders to tell your current customers about new products they may be interested in.

As you can see, autoresponders make email marketing simple and more effective. You can use them to build your opt-in list, send out an ecourse, follow up with customers, and in many other ways. Once you begin using autoresponders in your email marketing, you’ll see how easy it is to stay in touch with your visitors and tell them about your products.

For a long time, people didn’t think about the computer screen. When the screen is brighter it is easier to see, especially when the surrounding light is low. But, if you have ever looked at someone sitting in a dark room looking at a computer screen, what does it remind you of? Someone watching television of course. The only difference is that we are taught not to sit that close up to a television screen.

It’s no wonder that the screen affects so many of us. For home business owners, the computer is a necessity. Whether it is a laptop or a PC, you rely on it to conduct your business. So, what can you do to stop the strain?

Tip #1 – Unplug your laptop. When your laptop is plugged in it runs on AC power. The computer screen is brighter while you work. A good laptop battery can run free of AC power for six or eight hours. Even a four-hour battery will serve you well. So, simply unplug. The screen is now dimmed since it is using the battery. Work in four hour periods and then recharge the battery while you do something else.

Tip #2 – Use lamps and overhead lighting to compensate. If your monitor allows you to adjust the settings, turn them down. A desk lamp can compensate for the low light and help reduce the eyestrain.

Tip #3 – Invest in a glare filter. For PCs the filter is made into a bracket that fits over the monitor screen. For long hours spent on the computer, your eyes won’t become strained and cause headaches. Using the filter all the time will benefit everyone who uses the computer.

For laptops, glare filters fit on the edges of the screen frame or directly on the screen. They can be removed when you are done working. Some glare filters even incorporate privacy filters so that no one can see what you are doing on your laptop unless they are directly in front of the screen.

Instead I want you to picture the best internet marketing minds making themselves accessible to your every question, almost 200 people huddled over their laptops most of each day and more excitement and buzz than you can guess. That was my experience at NAMS this past weekend.

NAMS, that’s short for the Niche Affiliate Marketing Systems, is without doubt the best internet marketing training I have ever heard of and I am grateful to have been there. I have new ideas, resources, partners and information that will easily repay my cost of registration. You’ll be hearing more about what I learned over the next months here on the blog.

NAMS is held twice a year in Atlanta (there have been 3 events so far) and if you market your business online at all, I would highly encourage you to get yourself there in August or in January 2011. Eighteen of the biggest internet marketers of all were there to teach us and each spent the entire weekend – including meals, evenings and break times – answering questions and making sure we all learned as much as we could. Let me drop a few names so you understand the quality of the information – Willie Crawford, Kevin Riley, Jeff Herring, Denise Wakeman, Lynn Terry and Kathleen Gage – and a DOZEN MORE!

As I was leaving Atlanta, I discovered we would each be getting recordings of all of the NAMS sessions including those from the two previous NAMS events. If you are interested in purchasing those recordings, a total of more than 50 hours of quality business education, you can do so now. Hurry, the price goes up on February 8th. Check back to the site again in about a week if you are interested in attending this event in August. The best prices for registration will be soon and the price continues to go up as the event approaches. Take advantage of some great education in marketing from some of the best internet experts and get in at the low price now

When your systems work, everything runs smoothly, or as smoothly as possible when running a business.

Systems are essentially a step-by-step process written out for each aspect of your business. They help you stay on track, they make you more efficient, they streamline your business and they help you see where you can improve and where your business is excelling. When your systems work, everything runs smoothly. When they don’t work…well you get the picture.

Some potential systems include:

Customer service

Marketing

Sales

Product creation

Product development

Purchasing

Production

Producing an ezine

Billing

Invoicing

Outsourcing

Systems are particularly useful when you’re outsourcing a task to a virtual assistant. If you’ve done the processes in advance, then, you’ll have everything written down from the very first to the very last step, and your virtual assistant will know how you like your business handled.

Creating your systems

The first step to creating systems is to realize what processes your business uses. Simply make a list of the processes you go through on a daily or weekly basis. Once you have your list, it’s time to actually create your systems. They’re created initially by simply writing down the steps to accomplish a task. As new processes are added to your business, you’ll simply create a new system for that process. For example, if you add on an affiliate program then you’ll have several new system like a payment system, a communication system, a recruiting system and so on.

Once your systems are created, the processes can be fine-tuned by using several steps. Firstly, you may want to simply evaluate the process you’ve written to see if it works and if there are any loopholes or steps you’ve missed. Secondly, you may want to include goals and measurements to determine whether the system is a success.

For example, if you have a customer service system and your goal is to have 100% customer satisfaction, and you end up losing 20% of your customers due to an inadequate customer service policy, then you know the system needs to be tweaked.

Storing your systems

Because you are a business owner, you are probably on your computer at least 50% of the working day, and more than likely you’re on it almost 100% of the working day. This means it makes sense to organize your systems on your computer. A simple file with the date and the name of the system will make them easy to access. You’ll also want to organize your goals and how you’re going to measure the goals.

Systems are a business owner’s best friend. They’ll help keep you on track and running smoothly today, tomorrow and for years to come.

Whether online or off, you need people to DO SOMETHING if you want your business to be a success. For online business, one way to reach the people that will be most interested in your product or service is through list building.

What is List Building?

In the fewest words possible, list building is the process used to create an inventory of people who fit the niche market you are promoting. The
assumption usually is that if you cast a wide enough net to find people, you will eventually find the right people. This method is not only backwards, but also costly in time and energy. Instead, cast your net to catch only your niche market – go smaller when building your list.

There is more than one way to develop a list for your business. Here are just a few of the more popular (and successful might I add) ways:

Opt-ins

Free Giveaways

Contests

Email Marketing

Article Marketing

Blogging

Whatever methods you use, it is important to know where you are coming from and where you are going before others will follow you.

Getting Your Name Out There

In order for others to follow you they need to know who you are and what you stand for. To that end, you will want to network with others. Your time is better spent building your brand before you build your list.

Do you routinely buy from someone you’ve just heard of? Not normally right?

Neither does anyone else. That is expected in business. Trust is earned over time and you must begin with curiosity in order to build up to trust.

Viral marketing is one of your best assets when it comes to getting noticed and building your list. Ask JV partners, complementary businesses in your field, other business owners, etc. to help you out. If they have websites, blogs or are a part of forums, let them pass the word around about you and what you do.

On your end, visit websites and blogs associated with the product or service that you sell. Get involved, ask questions, and show your face. These are the people you will ask to endorse you to lend credibility to your products.

During your promotion, your traffic will increase. People will know what you have to offer. Now you can use one, two or all of the above bulleted methods to begin building your list. Visitors will lend you their personal information (name and email) if they like what they see. From that point, it is up to you to keep them interested enough to become a loyal customer.

However most people do not use WordPress to enter their information, they instead use a word processing program such as Microsoft Word. This creates a whole new level of problems, since Microsoft Word embeds coding within your text and what you see is not always what you get. For instance, you may have your lists separated at the right line spacing, and indented just right with a flushed indentation for overflow; but when you paste it into WordPress all your formatting disappears and things don’t look anything like you imagined.

To help alleviate this issue, WordPress has added an icon (Kitchen Sink) for inserting your text from Microsoft Word. Simply click on the button and paste your information. The goal of inserting your text this way is that WordPress is supposed to recognize the formatting and follow all the rules you established in your original document. While this is a wonderful tool, it doesn’t always work as planned and formatting can be dropped or added within the document.

One workaround is to use the insert as plain text icon in WordPress. By pasting your text through this application, all the embedded codes are supposed to be stripped from your inserted text. At this point you can use the available WordPress icons and features to create the right look of your document in the visual tab.

WordPress also offers a preview key which acts similar to the print preview in word processing programs. By clicking this button, you are able to see what your document will look like when it actually posts to your site. This is a great tool to keep checking your document to make sure it is just right before you publish it for everyone to see.

These and many other features are standard within the WordPress administrative dashboard. They serve as a great benefit to the non-technical administrator or writer, enabling them to produce great documentation to their website without learning difficult HTML or other source coding.
